Cybersecurity in LTC Pharmacy
Cyber threats facing long-term care (LTC) pharmacies continue to evolve, putting sensitive data, systems, and patient trust at risk. In a recent episode of FrameworkFocus, host Todd Eury sat down with Scott Beatty, President & CEO of SoftWriters, and Chris Callahan, Partner at Echelon Risk + Cyber, to unpack today’s cybersecurity landscape and share practical strategies for strengthening organizational security maturity.
Giant Eagle, a prominent supermarket chain across Ohio, western Pennsylvania, and parts of Illinois, has long maintained a strong presence in retail pharmacy. Recognizing the potential to serve the community’s broader healthcare needs, Giant Eagle expanded into long-term care (LTC) pharmacy services in 2020 through an LTC division. Primarily serving assisted living facilities (ALFs) and group homes, Giant Eagle’s LTC pharmacy operations have developed into a specialized team operating independently of its retail sector. As part of this expansion, it created a dedicated space adjacent to the retail pharmacy—a clear commitment to providing specialized LTC services.
MFP Support Update: FrameworkLTC 3.3.363 + Updated MFP Update Utility
To support both future MFP tracking and retroactive cleanup of historical MFP-eligible claims processed earlier in the year, we released an updated version of FrameworkLTC (version 3.3.363) and an updated MFP Update Utility (version 1.0.3). These updates address known issues and help ensure more accurate handling of SDRA amounts for MFP-eligible claim tracking and reporting. The updates in FrameworkLTC version 3.3.363 ensure proper handling of future MFP-eligible claims for better tracking, reporting, and reconciliation. The MFP Update Utility is designed for one-time use to retroactively correct any previously processed claims for remittance and reconciliation.

In 2026, long-term care pharmacies must evolve to meet the rising demand for medication safety, compliance, and efficiency. With more medications per patient and increasing regulatory scrutiny, a data-driven medication management review process is essential to ensure safe, effective care. Here’s how FrameworkInsight can help pharmacies stay ahead.
As the Maximum Fair Price (MFP) era looms large for long-term care (LTC) pharmacies, the need for preparation has never been greater. The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), which introduces significant changes to Medicare drug pricing, presents both challenges and opportunities for LTC pharmacies. Success in this new environment will depend on pharmacies' ability to adapt strategically while optimizing operations.
